Viva England ! Upshot back song for FIFA World Cup 2010

Coventry indie foursome Pint Shot Riot, with help from the Upshot Upstarts have recorded the ONLY anthem you will need this summer for the World Cup Finals, VIVA ENGLAND. an anthemic celebration of football in the name of charity.

Available to download from 7th June 2010, the single is about getting behind the England team during South Africa 2010, whilst also raising awareness for the Homeless World Cup, a UK based charity that helps thousands every year play their way out of poverty with football.

THE CHARITY Established 8 years ago by Big Issue Scotland founder Mel Young. Every year the Homeless World Cup unites teams of homeless players from all 5 continents of the world. The Homeless World Cup has grown from 18 nations at the first in Austria 2003 to 64 going to Brazil for Rio 2010 Homeless World Cup in September, which now includes a Women’s World Cup.

Nearly 100,000 homeless men and women, have benefited since the beginning and there are now grass roots football programmes working with homeless people all year round in over 70 nations

Research demonstrates over 70% of players experience a significant life change – they come off drugs, alcohol, improve their health and self esteem, repair relationships, get jobs, homes, education, training, become football players, coaches and social entrepreneurs.

THE BAND Pint Shot Riot composed VIVA ENGLAND with VIVA and the Homeless World Cup.

The band are featured on the computer game FIFA 10 amongst others. They regularly sell out to 1,000 kids in Coventry and have had various singles out on their own label. Their debut album will be released in the summer.

VIVA ENGLAND is a rousing salute fit for chanting from the terraces and will provide the soundtrack to VIVA’s football playlists in June & July.
